This weekend, 30^th & 31^st March 2013 come support the Penang World Music Festival 2013, held for the second time at the Quarry Park, Penang Botanic Gardens; promising two nights of world music splendour, heart-thumping and vivacious drum beats.

On Saturday, the concert will start with an opening ceremony at 6pm which will feature various traditional dances from Phor Thay high school and Temple of Fine Arts. The first act of the night is Alp Bora Quartet from Turkey at 7.00pm. The show continues with Oratnitza (Bulgaria), Rimba (Sabah), Kalayo (Philippines) , Dagaya (Japan) and Kimi Djabate (Guinea Bissau)
On Sunday, Nasout from Iran will open the festival at 6.00pm followed by Mu (Portugal), Inka Marka (South America), AkashA (Malaysia), Dende (Brazil), Saharadja (Bali) and a grand finale with all artistes on stage. 

During the day music lovers can join the musicians with special workshops highlighting various exotic musical instruments and while interacting with the musicians themselves. On Saturday, 30^th March the workshops will be focusing on string instruments, brass and woodwind while on Sunday 31^st March there will be workshops on guitars, percussions and vocals. There is also KIDZ WORLD, especially for children from 5.00pm to 6.00 on both days. 

This year there are 12 International music groups from West Africa, Portugal, Brazil, Bulgaria,Turkey, Iran, Australia, New York, Philippines, Japan, Malaysia; performing  various world music genres such as Folk, Fusion, Aboriginal, Traditional and many more.

If you have to purchase your tickets, please visit www.penangworldmusic.gov.my.  In Penang, tickets are sold at the information counter on Level 1 KOMTAR (in front of Maybank), Discovery Overland Holidays office at Prima Tanjung (Tanjung Tokong ), Switch Outlets at Gurney Plaza, Straits Quay, Queensbay Mall and Sunway Carnival Mall, as well as the Marathon Kiosk at North Zone Queensbay Mall (Ground Floor, in front of Winter Warmers).
